Application — Growth

Danilo Vicioso

Who I am

  • Former COO of Tabs, a top-10 most viral brand on the internet
  • Built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it
  • Founded Mainstreet, a consumer home-services platform: a team of 70, $25M raised (Greylock, Khosla, YC, Tim Ferriss), and it failed
  • Before that: Quintessential Ventures, an early seat at a high-growth startup, and entrepreneur-in-residence at Prehype
  • I’m looking to move into growth specifically. The creative and ToF is the work I want to be doing every day

Rather than send a résumé I did a weekend of the job.

What I built

What I’d do here

  • My KPI: scale ad spend, hold target CAC. Everything else follows from that.
  • Week to week: launching a bunch of different experiments against your current best ad, losers killed early.
  • Scope and brief the work for UGC creators (runners, nurses, parents and on-their-feet workers who already film their day), then keep a hook library of what won.
  • Reporting so you never have to ask. Daily CAC. Weekly what we learned. Monthly cohort payback.
  • I can run ads across channels (YouTube, Pinterest, search) but I’d start on Meta and only open the next one when CAC earns it.
  • Event tracking I’d spec and work through with your team. That part isn’t me.

GROWTH PLAN · BOMBAS · 28 SEPT 2026

Scale spend. Hold CAC.

One number to protect, and a plan to spend more on Meta without it moving: more messages beyond compression and COMFORT20, creators who are on their feet all day, tested on a schedule, and stopped by gates we agree on before any money moves.

5 → 10creators, adding two a month after day 30 (proposed)
5–8new ads tested a week, inside the current budget (proposed)
$5,500creator cap in month one (proposed)
Day 30keep-or-stop call, on the numbers

Cover photos: Bombas, bombas.com. Every figure marked “proposed” is Danilo’s plan, not Bombas data.

01 · THE NUMBER

One number to protect. Seven ways it breaks. Three moves.

The number is blended CAC on Meta at the spend you want to reach. Everything below either protects it or tests whether it holds at a higher spend.

Quarter
Quarter
PROTECTTarget CAC at your chosen daily spend, set together in week one
THREE MOVES1. New messages beyond compression and the 20%-off code
2. Creators who are on their feet all day, each with a script of their own
3. Landing pages and first-order offers tested against your collection pages
02 · VARIETY

Only variety absorbs variety.

Of the 15 Bombas ads read on 28 Sept, 7 are compression socks or sleeves, and nearly every ad carries the same offer: 20% off with COMFORT20. The compression sleeve ads have run since March. That’s a strong winner, and also the one most likely to tire first.

03 · DISTURBANCES

Seven disturbances, scored, owned, gated by a number.

Scores are Danilo’s read from outside, to be re-scored in week one with your data. Fulfilment complaints appear in public Trustpilot reviews, read 28 Sept 2026.

04 · THE CEILING

The ceiling. Five lines, with the assumed ones labelled.

LINEVALUESTATUS
First order value$50Proxy: Originals Ankle 4-Pack
After COMFORT20$4020% off first order
Gross margin60%ASSUMED, replace in week one
Refund / reship rate5%ASSUMED, replace in week one
12-month repeat orders1.2 × $50ASSUMED, replace in week one
THE MATH, WITH THE ASSUMED LINES$40 × 60% = $24.00 first-order margin. × (1 − 5%) = $22.80. + 1.2 repeats × $50 × 60% = $36.00. Total $58.80 twelve-month margin per customer. That $58.80 is the most a customer can cost.Replace the assumed lines with your numbers and the ceiling recalculates. Target CAC sits well under it. Donation cost is left out here, so add it when you replace margin.
05 · TEST RAMP

The test ramp. The blanks are yours to fill on day one.

WEEKNEW ADS LIVETEST BUDGET / AD (PROPOSED)CREATORS POSTINGYOUR CAC TARGET

58$4007Set with you, day one
68$4007Set with you, day one

Tests run inside your current budget. Winners replace spend on tired ads. They don’t add to it.

06 · VOLUME

Whatever your CAC is, creative volume is what moves it.

At a fixed hit rate, more concepts tested means more winners, and more winners means more spend held at the same CAC. The hit rate is an assumption until your last six months replace it.

CONCEPTS TESTED / MONTHHIT RATE (ASSUMED)NEW WINNERS / MONTHSPEND EACH WINNER HOLDS (ASSUMED)ADDED SPEND AT TARGET CAC

07 · ALLOCATION

Where the next $100,000 goes.

$60,00060% · scale proven winners
$20,00020% · test new concepts (5–8 a week)
$15,00015% · creator partnership ads
$5,0005% · landing page and offer tests

Proposed split. It shifts toward scaling as winners prove out, and toward testing when fatigue shows.

08 · CHANNELS

What has to be true before a channel opens.

Retail media (Target)Holdout shows Meta lift in Target regionsOtherwise it pays twice for one customer
YouTubeA creator day-in-the-life video beats the best Meta adNeeds a proven script first
Gifting / corporateNot in scopeSeparate sales motion
09 · PAYBACK

Payback is the real constraint, not CAC.

A $40 first order, after the code, is a small start. The payback comes when a sock customer adds underwear, a tee or slippers. And more of them now buy at Target, Nordstrom or a Bombas store, where Meta never sees it. Judge payback on 6-month cohorts plus a retail holdout.

Day 0$50 4-pack, $40 with COMFORT20
Day 30–90second order: underwear, tees, slippers
Month 12repeat rate (assumed 1.2 orders)
Anytimesome reorders in stores, off your site

Prices from bombas.com; offer from Meta ads; retail from Forbes, 17 Oct 2025, and Modern Retail. The repeat rate is assumed.

10 · SCOPE

Talking to camera, product in hand, filmed on a phone in a real room. For Bombas the same shape works: socks on at 6am, shoes off after a shift, slippers on at the front door.

Tabs examples from Danilo’s own program.
